The YAC (Youth Activities Council) is responsible for providing sports and other activities to our youth at St. Matthews Parish. We provide two types of sports programs depending on the grade of the children.
YAC Open Meetings
Meetings are held on the last Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm at Foley Hall. All parents whose children participate in YAC activities are welcome to attend.
Program Options
CYM Sports:
CYM (Catholic Youth Ministries) sports are programs that are controlled by the Diocese of Wilmington. The diocese sets the guidelines for these sports such as who can play and what grades can participate. In order to play CYM sports children must attend St. Matthew School, be a St. Matthew parishioner, or live in the geographic area designated by CYM. CYM teams play other parishes in the Wilmington Diocese.
YAC Sports:
YAC sports programs that are controlled by the parish. Participation is generally open to anyone (friends, neighbors, family members). Children in these programs generally play other teams in the YAC program instead of other parishes in the Diocese.
Fees and Volunteer Options
Fees: The registration fee is $60.00 per child per sport. The registration fee for Intramural sports is $35.00
Uniform deposit: A uniform fee deposit may be required if the uniforms being distributed are less than three years old. This check will not be cashed unless the uniform is not returned to us in time and in useable condition.
Volunteer options: The YAC holds monthly dances in order to raise money to support our program needs Chaperones are needed to keep these dances going. We also sponsor tournaments throughout the year with a concession stand. Help is needed with the concession stand and working the tournament. Occasionally we have workdays at the gym to paint, clean up or make improvements to the building.
